The RRB JE Exam is the chance that engineers are looking for in India. The chance to get recruited in railways with great promises of growth is better than any regular job. It is very important to know the RRB JE Exam Pattern to get success in it.
All candidates must note unlike few other govt job exams, the RRB does not conduct RRB JE exams every year. It depends on the vacancies available on railways. The RRB JE exam is carried on in four stages. The main exam is done in two stages that are CBAT Phase-I and CBT Phase-II thereafter document verification and medical fitness test comes in place for selected candidates.

Phase-I the basic stage that all candidates have to attend irrespective of the posts they have applied for. This stage is like basic screening to check if the candidates are proficient enough in their particular educational standards as needed for the RRB JE Jobs. In this phase, the questions will be objective type with multiple choice answers.

If the entrant qualifies in Phase-I they will be able to appear for CBT Phase-II. As we have already seen in the above-mentioned Phase table, the candidates have to go through a specific level of difficulty (CBT) identified for each post within RRB JE. If an entrant qualifies for more than one post which falls under the same level of difficulty for CBT they can attend a common exam for both the posts.
Candidates appearing for Phase II will be shortlisted on the basis of normalized marks they have obtained in Phase-I. Thereafter candidates will be filtered on the basis of their educational skills and the number of available vacancies. The total number of shortlisted candidates should be 20 times the group-wise vacancies available and filtered on the basis of their merit level. On the other hand, it is important to know that the RRB holds all the rights to increase or decrease the number of vacancies reserved for a specific community. The tentative cut of marks for RRB JE CBT Phase-I is released for different categories i.e. General 40%, OBC/SC 30% and ST 25%.

Yes, Negative marking is there in CBT Phase-II as well. For each wrong answer, there would be a 1/3 mark cut. This is for both Phases.
There are, different percentages of minimum scores as fixed by RRB for various categories of candidates appearing for the exam. The table is on this page itself. PwD candidates can be given an extra 2% score relaxation depending on the footfall of the candidates of the same category and the number of available vacancies.
