As per the latest official notification, the SSC CGL Salary Structure 2021 was revised by the 7th pay commission. A big raise had been issued for Group B (Gazetted officers). Moreover, the salary for all the posts was revised too. The pay scale for Group B Non-Gazetted officers and Group C will be entitled to less pay than Group B (Gazetted officers). Likewise, all the employees of SSC CGL are entitled to certain allowances, (Travelling Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, Overtime Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and Dearness Allowance (DA), etc). HRA is generally provided to the SSC CGL employees to meet their house rent need. It was fixed at 24% of the employee’s basic pay.
However, as per the 7th pay commission, whenever the commission revised the HRA. If the employee’s DA crosses 25%, the HRA would be 27% for the X category city, 18% for the Y group, and 9% for the Z group.
Note: The X category cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Pune. The Y category contains almost 100 towns with a population above 5 Lakhs. The Z category contains rural areas.
Currently, the Dearness Allowance or DA is 17% of the basic pay. It the living adjustment cost of the employees. It was revised by the union cabinet on 29th October 2019.
Note: Dearness Allowance or (DA) is merged with basic pay therefore, it is not shown as separately. This component is revised every 6 months for specific employees of CBI, IB, and other security services as special security allowances. There are several other grants for employees of security services like SDA, Medical, Canteen, Specs, Briefcase, however, we are not mentioning all so that we can calculate the salary easily.
The transport allowance is divided into two groups for employees living in cities and for employees from places other than cities. For employees from cities, it is flat Rs 3600 and for other places, it is Rs 1800.

Yes, All employees from rural areas are provided with a travelling grant as per category Z, which is Rs 1800, after 7pay commission.
As per the 7th pay commission, if the SSC CGL employee's DA crosses 25%, the HRA would be 27% likewise, for the X category city, 18% for the Y category places, and 9% for the Z category places.
There is certain other grant provided to the SSC CGL employees apart from TA, DA, and HRA for example - SDA, Medical, Canteen, Specs, Briefcase allowances.
The current DA % is 17% of the Basic Pay and it is merged with the salary. Check the SSC CGL Syllabus for 2021.
