UPSC  conducts the CAPF Exam yearly to hire for the various security forces. The UPSC CAPF Online Application has started on 18th August 2021. It is very important to understand the UPSC CAPF Eligibility 2021 to complete the registration correctly. According to the official UPSC CAPF Notification 2021, there will be 209 vacancies available for entrants.

UPSC will do the CAPF exam in 3 phases the Written Test, Physical test and Interview. It is important for entrants to go through the UPSC CAPF Syllabus 2021 to know the subjects they have to study. However there two more rounds of CAPF Exam the Physical test and Interview round. Entrants must keep in mind they have to give equal focus to crack the UPSC CAPF exam. Now that we know the important dates let’s have a look at the UPSC CAPF Eligibility 2021. This would help us to understand who are the entrants are eligible to appear in the exam.

UPSC CAPF Notification 2021 on Eligibility:

The Eligibility criteria consist of 4 factors. the citizenship, Educational qualification, Age Limit and Physical Standards. In CAPF Exam Physical Ability holds major importance in the selection process. Although all phase of exams has to be qualified to get selected in finals. Entrants have to work on their physical fitness especially to qualify for this exam. Let’s have a look into the details:

  • Nationality.
  • Age Limit
  • Educational Qualification.
  • Permissible Disabilities.

Nationality:

  • The entrant must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
  • For the CAPF Exam Only Indian citizens and subject of Nepal and Bhutan are eligible to appear. there is no other exemption made for any other category of people identified as a refugee from some other country.
  • If the Govt of India gives written approval to an entrant they can be considered as eligible for the exam.

Note:

  • Both male and female entrants are allowed for the exam.
  • Entrants who were once selected in the CAPF exam is not eligible.

Now you already know about the very basic eligibility criteria i.e. citizenship. We will not have a look at the next aspect of the criteria that is the Age limit for UPSC CAPF.

  • The DOB should the same as in the admit card of Matriculation or Higher Secondary exam.

The above table shows the age criteria for various depts. Now let’s have a look into the educational skills needed for the CAPF exam:

Educational Qualification:

  • Entrants must complete their graduation/bachelor’s degree from a recognized University.
  • UPSC will allow entrants who are waiting for their passing certificate to appear for the CAPF exam under the special provision. However, they have to submit their passing certificate at the time of Doc verification.
  • Entrants who have a technical qualification from Govt recognized university are also eligible for the CAPF exam.

If the entrant meets the required educational skill needed for the CAPF exam then only they should apply for it. However, if an entrant fails to provide a valid certificate or if it doesn’t have the date of issuing.

Now let’s move to the next and most imp aspect of eligibility, which is Physical fitness. As it the CAPF exam is solely conducted for hiring people in the security forces of India. The physical fitness of an entrant plays a major role. Let’s have a look into the details:

A security force officer has to work in many adverse situations. Entrants must ensure that they are physically fit & mentally strong to handle each situation. UPSC have some fixed standards in the matter of fitness for security officers, let’s have a look.

Note: Entrant who went through LASIK surgery must wait for 6months before applying in CAPF. This time gap is mandatory by the commission.

Apart from this, there are specific parameters for eligibility in a matter of Physical standards. Entrants have to be particular about each of them to qualify in the merit list. Now let’s have a look into the UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2021:

UPSC CAPF Notification 2021 on Exam Pattern:

In the exam highlights, we have already indicated that the CAPF exam is conducted in three phases. The 1st phase of CAPF exam will be the written exam which would have two papers. The 2nd round of exam would be the Physical test and the third round of the exam will be an interview round. Note:

  • Paper 1 will have multiple-choice questions.

  • If an entrant fails to qualify in Paper I, they can not appear in the Paper-II.

  • English paper needs to be answered in English only.
  • The exam will be descriptive in nature.
  • Entrants who have qualified in paper 1 can only appear in Paper 2.

After qualifying in Paper II the entrant will then go for Physical Test. The physical test is very important for the security forces because the officer’s fitness will impact their job role. Let’s have a look at how the physical test is conducted:

Physical test of the entrants is conducted to test their physical strength and credibility to perform their duties as an officer in security forces. There are specific tests that are performed to find out the Physical ability of an entrant. Let’s have a look:

Entrants who would be further shortlisted after the physical test will go for interview round or personality test round. The interview round being the last round entrants would be asked about their preferred security force they want to join. However, before that, there will be a round of questioners to test the mental strength and personality of the entrant. Let have a look at some of the questions asked in the interview round:

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2021- Interview or Personality Test Round:

The interview round will be the last round of the CAPF exam. This round is solely designed to understand the personality and mental stability of the entrants. Their quick decision-making ability will also be tested in this round. This test will carry 150 marks. On successful completion of this test, entrants would express their preference of the security forces they want to join.

Now that we are aware how the CAPF exam will be conducted let’s have a look at the UPSC CAPF Syllabus 2021 to know what are the subjects that entrants need to study:

UPSC CAPF Notification 2021 on Syllabus:

As we have already discussed the CAPF exam is conducted in 3 phases. The written exam, the physical test and the interview. The 1st phase that is the written exam is further divided into two papers. The General Ability & Intelligence & General Studies & Essay, Comprehension. On qualifying each papers entrants will appear for next round. The above table shows the CAPF Syllabus for written exam for 2021 however, after passing the written exam there will be a physical ability test. Entrants who would pass the Physical test they will further go for Interview round. All the rounds of the exam are very important because to give out the final merit list will be given on basis of all the exams. The Final merit list for selected entrants will be calculated in basis of performance in all rounds of the exam. If an entrant fails to get clearance from the medical team for physical fitness. They would be allowed to redo the test thereafter no further chances will be given to the entrant.

The probable exam date has not been declared yet. However, it is assumed to be released in November 2021. Entrants must keep an eye on the UPSC CAPF Notification 2021 to know when exactly the admit card would be issued. The admit card would be available online and entrants will have to follow a few steps to download it from the official website of UPSC. UPSC CAPF Notification on Instruction For Exam Day:

  • Entrants must go and check the location of the exam centre a few days prior to the exam to ensure they are aware of the correct location.
  • Entrants must nor carry any banned team in the exam hall. Banned teams include mobile phones, Bluetooth device, calculator, paper etc.
  • Reach the exam hall one hour prior to the exam start time to ensure you find your seat according to roll number. Also to get your documents verified while entering the hall.
