UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Eligibility 2022:

UPSC has released the official recruitment notification for the post for the Geo-Scientist. UPSC has announced a total number of 180 vacancies for this position. UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Eligibility 2022:

Like every competitive examination, UPSC also sets certain eligibility criteria for the candidates. Those candidates who meet all the eligibility criteria are eligible for this examination. The first eligibility criteria are Age Limit, the second one is Nationality and the third one is Education qualifications. Let’s check out the eligibility criteria in detail.

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Age Limit 2022: 

A candidate for this examination must have attained the age criteria as prescribed below:-

For Geologist, Geophysicist and Chemist (Group ‘A’) in the Geological Survey of India, an attached office of Ministry of Mines, Government of India: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on the first day of the month of January of the year in which the Examination is to be held.  He/she must have been born between 2nd January 1990 to 1st January 2001.

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Eligibility 2022: Nationality

Candidates have to be a citizen of India/subject of Bhutan/subject of Nepal. Candidates have to submit their identity proof like Aadhar Card/PAN Card/Voter ID Card. UPSC has strictly mentioned that without identity proof any candidates could not apply for this examination.

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Eligibility 2022: Educational Qualifications

To apply for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Vacancy candidates must have:-

  1. Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo- Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry from any recognized University.
  2. M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or M.Sc. (Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) from a recognized University.
  3. M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 i.e. recognized University.

The selection process is totally dependent on the examination. Candidates have to remember that there is a negative marking for every wrong answer and the selection process is depended on the marks. So candidates are advised to they should prepare themselves for the examination.

Is UPSC very tough?

Indeed, UPSC is tough as far as its syllabus is considered. The diversity of subjects demands more determination and long study hours. Since the role of an IAS is not just limited to a particular field, the subjects to be covered for this examination contains varied streams.

Will Optional be removed from UPSC 2022?

As mentioned above, UPSC has not come up with a decision of removing or changing the optional subject yet, but there is a high possibility of changes in the optional subject by 2022. Scraping of optional subjects from UPSC is possible and can be implemented in one go.

Do Upsc repeat questions?

The answer is Yes! UPSC papers do have repetitive questions from the previous year's papers, but only for some subjects. It has been observed from the past ten years, repetitive questions from subjects — History, Economics and Indian Polity were seen.
