i. Skeletal chemical equation is a representation of a chemical reaction using chemical formulae of reactants and products and it is unbalanced.
eg. \(\mathrm{Mg}+\mathrm{HCl} \rightarrow \mathrm{MgCl}_{2}+\mathrm{H}_{2}\)
ii. In balanced chemical equation, the number of atoms of each element on both the sides of the equation are equal.
\(\begin{array}{cc}\text { eg. } \mathrm{Mg}_{(\mathrm{s})}+2 \mathrm{HCl}_{(\mathrm{aq})} & \longrightarrow \mathrm{MgCl}_{2(\mathrm{aq})}+\mathrm{H}_{2(\mathrm{~g})} \\ \text { Magnesium Hydrochloric } & \text { Magnesium Hydrogen } \\ \text { acid } & \text { chloride }\end{array}\)
