Identify the incorrect statement.
A \(C r^{2+}\left(d^{4}\right)\) is a stronger reducing agent than \(\mathrm{Fe}^{2+}\left(d^{6}\right)\) in water.
B The transition metals and their compounds are known for their catalytic activity due to their ability to adopt multiple oxidation states and to form complexes.
c Interstitial compounds are those that are formed when small atoms like \(\mathrm{H}, \mathrm{C}\) or \(\mathrm{N}\) are trapped inside the crystal lattices of metals.

Solution:
The oxidation state of \(\mathrm{Cr}\) in \(\mathrm{CrO}_{4}^{2-}\) as well as in \(\mathrm{Cr}_{2} \mathrm{O}_{7}^{2-}\) is \(+6\)
$$
\begin{array}{cc}
\mathrm{CrO}_{4}^{2-} & \mathrm{Cr}_{2} \mathrm{O}_{7}^{2-} \\
x-8=-2 & 2 x-14=-2 \\
x=+6 & x=+6
\end{array}
$$
