Solution:
\(\mathrm{SnO}_{2}\) reacts with acids as well as bases to form corresponding salts. So it is an amphoteric oxide

&\mathrm{SnO}_{2}+2 \mathrm{NaOH}->\underset{\text { sod.stannate }}{\mathrm{Na}_{2} \mathrm{SnO}_{3}}+\mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O}
