Both the exams are objective type and the question in the exam will be bilingual: Hindi and English. Only for the English language exam, the question will not be available in any other language. The Prelim exam will be post-specific and the question paper will be different as per post. For The prelim exam, there will 120 mins provided. The entrant will have to qualify for each test, both sectional and overall cut off to be able to appear for the next exam. There is a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The marks obtained in IBPS SO PRELIMS EXAM will not be included in the final merit list. For appearing in the IBPS SO INTERVIEW only the marks obtained in IBPS SO MAINS EXAM will only be considered. So, the entrant will have to mandatorily achieve both the sectional and overall IBPS SO CUT OFF MARKS in both the exams. The IBPS SO MAIN EXAM will only contain questions from professional Knowledge.

IBPS SO Exam Pattern 2021-Interview:
Upon achieving the sectional and overall IBPS SO CUTOFF MARKS, the entrant will be eligible for the IBPS SO INTERVIEW round. The IBPS SO INTERVIEW is 100 marks and is conducted by the participating organizations and coordinated by the nodal banks with the help of IBPS. For General Category students the minimum qualifying marks is 40% and for others, i.e., SC/ST/OBC/PWD entrants the minimum passing marks is 35%.
The IBPS SO FINAL MERIT LIST is prepared based on the marks obtained in the written test + interview. The weightage of the mains exam and interview is in the ratio of 80:20. To achieve the aim of being a Specialist Officer, the entrant must achieve high scores in both the IBPS SO MAIN EXAM and the IBPS SO INTERVIEW, to be selected in the final merit list.
