Q. The empirical formula of a compound is \(\mathrm{CH}_{2} \mathrm{O}\). Its molecular weight is 180 . The molecular formula of the compound is
A \(\mathrm{C}_{4} \mathrm{HO}_{4}\)
B \(C_{5} H_{10} O_{5}\)
(c) \(\mathrm{C}_{3} \mathrm{H}_{6} \mathrm{O}_{3}\)
D \(\mathrm{C}_{6} \mathrm{H}_{12} \mathrm{O}_{6}\)

Solution:
Empirical formula mass \(=12+2+16=30\)
\(n=\frac{\text { Molar Mass }}{\text { Emperical Mass }}=\frac{90}{30}=3\)
Molar \(\mathrm{F}\) ormula \(=\left(\mathrm{CH}_{2} \mathrm{O}\right)_{n}=\mathrm{C}_{3} \mathrm{H}_{6} \mathrm{O}_{3}\)
