
RRB NTPC exam is scheduled between June- Sept 2021 as per RRB NTPC Notification. The RRB NTCP is an amazing opportunity for candidates looking for non-tech govt jobs. Moreover, the RRB NTPC Salary Package and benefits and perks enjoyed by RRB employees are better than any other govt jobs. Like, the other exam conducted by RRB, the NTPC exam is also not conducted every year. RRB conducts the NTPC exam only when there are openings available. candidates must follow the RRB NTPC Syllabus and exam pattern to succeed in the exam. Although a tentative time is declared for CBT 1, however, RRB NTPC Official Notification did not state any particular date for the exam. So, let’s have a detailed look into the Exam pattern.
To qualify to appear for RRB NTPC Exam 1st entrant must make sure that they complete the process of the RRB NTPC Online Application correctly and fit all RRB NTPC Eligibility criteria. Once an entrant found to fit all of them they will further be allowed for the exam. The RRB NTPC exam is carried on in four stages. The main exam is done in two stages that are CBT Phase-I and CBT Phase-II thereafter there could be a CBAT or Comp Based Aptitude Test or Typing Skill Test, however, that depends on the post that an entrant has applied for. If an entrant qualifies in all the stages, they will further go through document verification and medical fitness test. It is suggested to candidates to go through the RRB NTPC Cut Off Marks of previous years as well to get an idea of what score the entrant must target.

Phase-I the basic stage that all candidates have to attend irrespective of the posts they have applied. This stage is like basic screening to check if the candidates are proficient enough in their particular educational standards as needed for the RRB NTPC Jobs. In this phase, the questions will be objective type with multiple choice answers.

2% score relaxation can be given to PwD candidates if there is a lack of PwD candidates against reserved posts. |
If the entrant qualifies in Phase-I they will be able to appear for CBT Phase-II. As we have already seen in the above-mentioned Phase table, the candidates have to go through a specific level of difficulty (CBT) identified for each post within RRB NTPC. If an entrant qualifies for more than one post which falls under the same level of difficulty for CBT they can attend a common exam for both the posts.
Candidates appearing for Phase II will be shortlisted on the basis of normalized marks they have obtained in Phase-I. Thereafter candidates will be filtered on the basis of their educational skills and the number of available vacancies. The total number of shortlisted candidates should be 20 times the group-wise vacancies available and filtered on the basis of their merit level. On the other hand, it is important to know that the RRB holds all the rights to increase or decrease the number of vacancies reserved for a specific community. RRB does this to ensure there is enough number of aspirants against the available job posts.

The RRB NTPC Exam Phase table already indicates that the CBAT is not a compulsory phase for all job posts. There is a skill test required for other posts however CBAT or comp-based aptitude test is only needed for two job posts, namely Station Master and Traffic Assistant.

In conclusion, it is found that the exam pattern starting from the 2nd phase of CBT is customized to test the candidates according to their educational skills. In CBAT you will be tested for mental and decision-making abilities while other candidates will be tested on their typing speed as per the applied job role. For normal candidates, the time limit is 90 mins whereas for the PwD candidates it is 120mina.
Yes, it is necessary to appear in CBT 2 for all candidates, however, the difficulty level is different for a different level of applied post and educational qualification.
CBAT is a phase is not for all candidates. CBAT is post-specific Exam hence candidates who have applied for Station Master, Traffic assistant post will only appear in this exam.
For TST you will need to type 25 words per min, without editing or spelling check tool facility for Hindi language and 30 words per min, without editing or spelling check tool facility for the English language.
OBC candidates have to achieve a 30% score to qualify in CBT 1 and move to CBT 2.
