RRB NTPC Exam Pattern for Phase I&II, CBAT Phase and Marking Scheme for 2021.

RRB NTPC exam is scheduled between June- Sept 2021 as per RRB NTPC Notification. The RRB NTCP is an amazing opportunity for candidates looking for non-tech govt jobs. Moreover, the RRB NTPC Salary Package and benefits and perks enjoyed by RRB employees are better than any other govt jobs. Like, the other exam conducted by RRB, the NTPC exam is also not conducted every year. RRB conducts the NTPC exam only when there are openings available. candidates must follow the RRB NTPC Syllabus and exam pattern to succeed in the exam. Although a tentative time is declared for CBT 1, however, RRB NTPC Official Notification did not state any particular date for the exam. So, let’s have a detailed look into the Exam pattern.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern:

To qualify to appear for RRB NTPC Exam 1st entrant must make sure that they complete the process of the RRB NTPC Online Application correctly and fit all RRB NTPC Eligibility criteria. Once an entrant found to fit all of them they will further be allowed for the exam. The RRB NTPC exam is carried on in four stages. The main exam is done in two stages that are CBT Phase-I and CBT Phase-II thereafter there could be a CBAT or Comp Based Aptitude Test or Typing Skill Test, however, that depends on the post that an entrant has applied for. If an entrant qualifies in all the stages, they will further go through document verification and medical fitness test. It is suggested to candidates to go through the RRB NTPC Cut Off Marks of previous years as well to get an idea of what score the entrant must target.

Apart from the above table that describes which stages are required for particular RRB NTPC posts, we would go through the details of the subjects and exam nature of RRB NTPC.

Phase-I Of RRB NTPC Exam:

Phase-I the basic stage that all candidates have to attend irrespective of the posts they have applied. This stage is like basic screening to check if the candidates are proficient enough in their particular educational standards as needed for the RRB NTPC Jobs. In this phase, the questions will be objective type with multiple choice answers.

Next, follow the subjects and time limit for the phase-I CBT.

• The first and foremost point to be noted is the scoring section distribution given in the above table is just probable structure, however, the distribution may vary in the exam.
• Each question carries 1 mark therefore one right answer equals 1 mark.
• Negative marking is there in CBT Phase-I. For each wrong answer, there would be a 1/3 mark cut.
• Entrant must acquire a minimum score as defined for the reserved and unreserved group of candidates. Find out the details in the following table:

Phase-II Of RRB NTPC Exam:

If the entrant qualifies in Phase-I they will be able to appear for CBT Phase-II. As we have already seen in the above-mentioned Phase table, the candidates have to go through a specific level of difficulty (CBT) identified for each post within RRB NTPC. If an entrant qualifies for more than one post which falls under the same level of difficulty for CBT they can attend a common exam for both the posts.

Candidates appearing for Phase II will be shortlisted on the basis of normalized marks they have obtained in Phase-I. Thereafter candidates will be filtered on the basis of their educational skills and the number of available vacancies. The total number of shortlisted candidates should be 20 times the group-wise vacancies available and filtered on the basis of their merit level. On the other hand, it is important to know that the RRB holds all the rights to increase or decrease the number of vacancies reserved for a specific community. RRB does this to ensure there is enough number of aspirants against the available job posts.

Now that we have already discussed, both the compulsory phases of CBTs of RRB JE. let’s check the CBAT phase and its details within the RRB Exam Pattern.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern- CBAT Phase:

The RRB NTPC Exam Phase table already indicates that the CBAT is not a compulsory phase for all job posts. There is a skill test required for other posts however CBAT or comp-based aptitude test is only needed for two job posts, namely Station Master and Traffic Assistant.
Accordingly, find out some important info about the CBAT phase.

CBAT Important Instructions:

• To qualify in CBAT all candidates need to acquire the minimum T-Score that is 42 marks for each section of the test.
• The T-Score is the same for all categories of candidates. There is no relaxation on T-Score is allowed on T-Score for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD, & Ex-SM.
• RRB would select candidates, 8 times higher than the actual number of vacancies available for the posts of station master or traffic assistant.
• These total number of candidates would include candidates from all categories namely SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD, & Ex-SM, etc. These candidates would then appear for CBAT then.
• The selection for CBAT will also depend on the performance of CBT Phase-II.
• All candidates who are selected for CBAT must carry the vision certificate with them to the exam centre. If the candidates fail to do so they will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
• There is no negative marking in CBAT.
• The cut-off mark is similar for all RRB centres throughout India.
• The CBAT will have five sections of the exam and in the 5th sections, the candidates will be tested on two different dimensions of their personalities. candidates have to qualify in both dimensions to qualify. Therefore 6 different scorings will be extracted.
  • If an entrant fails to qualify in any of the two dimensions of the 5th section of CBAT they will be declared unfit for the job post.

Language and Scoring of RRB NTPC CBAT:

• The CBAT will be in question and answer form and the language of the exam will either be Hindi or English.
• The merit list for SM & TA posts will be drawn only from among candidates who have qualified in CBAT. However, it is important to note that the CBT Phase-II result will have 70% weightage and CBAT results will have 30% weightage.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern – Typing Skill Test:

We have already discussed the job post that requires a typing skill test. However, we would discuss important points that an entrant should keep in mind for typing skill test. Find the details below:

TST Important Instructions:

• RRB would select candidates, 8 times higher than the actual number of vacancies available for the posts namely:
  • Accounts Clerk cum Typist.
  • Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist.
  • Senior Time Keeper.
  • Junior Clerk cum Typist.
  • Senior Clerk cum Typist.
  • Junior Time Keeper.
• This total number of candidates would include candidates from all categories namely SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD, & Ex-SM, etc. These candidates would then appear for RRB NTPC Typing Skill Test then.
• Candidates with permanent disabilities like blindness or low vision, loco-motor, cerebral palsy are exempted from typing skill tests. Loco-motor disability should not be less than 40% (permanent disability).
• PwBD candidates must upload their typing skill exemption certificate issued by the Competent Medical Board on the website of respective RRBs before the exam is conducted.
• For PwBD candidates, the merit list will be published on the basis of the CBT Phase-II result.

Language and Typing Speed Required:

Now that we know about each Phase of the RRB NTPC Exam let’s have a look at the documents required to be verified in the final selection process.

Documents Required For Verification:

• Date of Birth proof candidates must carry Standard 10th’s certificate.
• Certificate and mark sheet for 10+2/ Inter/ Higher Secondary/ PUC.
• NCVT/ SCVT/ Diploma/ Engineering’s mark sheet per semester.
• OBC- NCL certificate issued by Govt of India.
• OBC Candidates certificate for Non-Creamy Layer Declaration.
• EWS candidates must provide their income certificates so that they don’t have to pay the examination fees.
• In case the entrant is an Ex-serviceman, he must provide the Original Leaving Certificate.
• If the entrant is a personnel still in active service, he must provide NOC.
• For all kinds of disabilities, the entrant must provide a medical certificate.
• If the candidates belong to a minority community, he or she must provide a Minority Community Declaration certificate or Non-Judicial stamp paper.
• Application fee payment slip or challan generated SBI or computerized post office.
• Govt photo Id card- Adhar Card photocopied on both sides.
• Formal name change notification (gazette notification or any other legal document).
• For a Transgender candidate’s self-certification is required.
• Eligibility Certificate issued by Govt of India.
• Domicile Certificate for entrant from Jammu and Kashmir.

Candidates are must carry all these valid documents as per their category and requirements, for successful verification of documents. candidates will be hired if they clear the DV round.

In conclusion, it is found that the exam pattern starting from the 2nd phase of CBT is customized to test the candidates according to their educational skills. In CBAT you will be tested for mental and decision-making abilities while other candidates will be tested on their typing speed as per the applied job role. After normalization of the scores, the final merit list is declared & thereafter called for DV. candidates who clear the DV round are only eligible for employment.
