UPSC or (Union Public Commission) conducts various competitive exams for public sector banks. The UPSC conducts the CMS exam every year. In 2021 UPSC will conduct the UPSC CMS Exam for various positions and entrants can start registering themselves in April 2021. This exam aims to hire various Govt Orgs and Departments. According to UPSC CMS Notification, UPSC will be releasing about 900+ vacancies through UPSC Official website in April 2021. However, the UPSC CMS Notification release is delayed this year because of COVID 19 outbreak.

The UPSC conducts the UPSC CMS Exam in two phases. The CBT and the Personality test. The exam date for each category of exam will release soon. The entrants who would be successful in clearing CBT will further go ahead with the Personality Test. Let’s have a look at the posts available.

Start preparing and utilizing the extra time you have got due to COVID 19 lock-down. Entrants who are aspiring to secure UPSC CMS jobs must go through the UPSC CMS Exam Pattern 1st because that is going to help them plan studies. Let’s have a look into the exam pattern 1st:

UPSC CMS Exam Pattern 2021:

CBT:

  • The nature of the question will be objective type.
  • Total marks in the exam will be 500.
  • There will two papers in the Exam.
  • Each paper will be 250 marks.
  • There will be 2 hours time duration for the exam to be completed.
  •  The UPSC will allow time relaxation to disabled entrants.
  • Negative marking will be there in this phase of the exam. For each wrong answer, there will be a  deduction of 1/3 marks.
  • Against each question, there will be 4 choices of answer.

Personality Test:

The Personality test is only for the entrants who have qualified in the CBT phase and are called for an interview. Let’s have a look at the details:

  • The personality test aims to test an entrant based on various aspects like:
    • General Knowledge.
    • Medical knowledge.
    • Personality test.
    • Intellectual curiosity.
    • Critical Power Assimilation.
    • Judgement Balance
    • Mind’s Alertness.
    • Social Cohesion ability.
    • Character integrity.
    • Leadership capability.
  • The exam will have 100 marks.

After the interview, the final selection will be made for the entrants. There will be a document verification round as well and entrants need to clear it. Now we will have a look into the UPSC CMS Syllabus so that you can understand what do you have to study:

UPSC CMS Notification on Syllabus 2021:

The exam is conducted in two phases and the CBT phase has a vast syllabus to be covered. The CBT phase carries the maximum marks (500) and all entrants need to clear this phase move to the 2nd phase. The 2nd phase has only 100 marks and it is a personality test.

CBT Phase Subjects for Paper-1:

  • Paediatrics.
  • General Medicine.
  • General Ability

CBT Phase Subjects for Paper-2:

  • Gynaecology & Obstetrics.
  • Preventive & Social Medicine.
  • Surgery.

Personality Test Phase:

2nd phase doesn’t have any particular syllabus however it would be like an interview and medical-based question and questions to check your decision-making abilities will be asked. This phase will have 100 marks but the main focus should be on the CBT phase because that has the maximum score and you will have only 2 hours to answer 120 questions in each paper.

Important Notes:

  • Negative marking would be applicable for CBT Phase. There would be a deduction of 1/3 marks for every wrong answer.
  • There would not be any sectional cut off though.
  • Marks is not deducted for leaving questions unanswered.
  • There would be four choices of answers in the CBT phase to choose from. If an entrant put a check-mark on more than one option the answer will be considered as wrong and 1/3 marks will be deducted.
  • Disabled entrants with proper medical documents will be allowed to have the scribe option.
  • No entrants will be allowed for the personality test until they qualify in the CBT phase.
  • No pen, paper, calculator or any electrical or communication device will be allowed inside the exam hall.
  • Entrants must carry the hall ticket or admit card in the exam hall or they would not be allowed to enter.
  • Disabled entrants may have to carry relevant medical document along with the admit card in the exam hall.
  • Apart from Admit card entrants must carry govt photo ID card like, Adhar card, Pan card, Driving license, Passport or Voter’s ID card.

UPSC CMS Eligibility 2021:

Eligibility Factors Criteria
Nationality
  • Entrants must be an Indian citizen.
  • Can be a citizen of Bhutan or Nepal
  • Can be a Tibetian refugee as well.
Age Limit Entrants must not be more than 32 years of age.
Educational Qualification
  • Entrants must have passed MBBS the written & the Practical exam.
  • Entrants who have already appeared in the written and practical exam but are waiting for their final result. They can also appear in the exam. However, if they cannot provide the final exam result in document verification, they will not get employment.
  • An entrant who is still doing their rotational internship can also apply for the exam however, they have to complete their internship even if they are selected for employment.

  • Blindness / Low Vision / One-eyed person
  • Locomotor Disability (Both Arms affected)
  • Cerebral Palsy

 

There would also be Age Relaxation for the reserved category of entrants. Special arrangements can be made for disabled entrants if proper medical documents are provided.
